I am trying to trace a Smith Family Bible which went missing from my aunt Emma Wood's house in the Bromley area after she died in 1991. The rightful recipient should have been my father, who has since died, and who was very upset at the time. I would like to trace an Edna nee Thornton who is a cousin by adoption as she was friendly with Aunt Em before she died, and may know who has it! Obviously if I had had it, it would have saved me a lot of time and money!
The Smith family concerned goes back through Rotherhithe and back into Braintree and other areas of Essex and may include an Ernest Walter Smith, my father, born 1908 Rotherhithe, John James Smith, my grandfather, born Colchester 1871, and Thomas Smith, my great grandfather, born 1840 in Braintree.
I would be so happy to find this Bible, especially as my sister, her son and I are the only ones in the family to show the remotest interest in the ancestors!
