red mail Thomas Colwyn Evans, Blaina or Newport
I am looking for Thomas Colwyn Evans who, I believe, had family in Blaina. He was born c 1888, and lived in Newport for at least the period 1918-1934 when he moved to Bristol - he died in 1957. He married Florence Philpotts (nee Simpson, a widow) in Bristol in 1918 but moved to Newport very soon afterwards. He had two daughters, Audrey and Joan, both of whom were born in Newport. I know that his father was called John, and was a Cab Proprietor, according to TCE's marriage certificate. I believe, but do not know for sure, that his family came from Blaina but there was also a strong connection to Newport. Thomas himself was an Engineer at the time of his marriage, possibly in one of the iron/steel works in Newport. He was shown as an Asst Manager, Engineering Works in 1924 on Audrey's birth certificate. He may have been known as Colwyn, as his name was recorded as T Colwyn Evans on Audrey's birth certificate. He was also a Boxing Referee, but I do not know during which period. Any help gratefully received!
red mail Reed family
Looking for information on Elsie Maud REED (b.1892); Margaret Ann REED (b.1896); Gladys REED (b.1904) and May REED (b.1906). They were some of the daughters of John and Mary Ann (nee Evans) REED. I have the information up to the 1911 census (they were living in Bournville Road, Blaina), but with a popular name like REED I am having difficulty in finding out if any of them married. Thanks.
red mail Evans, Elizabeth
Looking for information on ELIZABETH EVANS. She was born in Blaina around 1883 and was the daughter of Thomas and Dinah (nee Davies) EVANS. I have heard that she lived somewhere along the High Street, Blaina for many years and raised her two nephews - Thomas and Frederick EVANS - (the sons of her brother John). On the 1911 census she was living with her mother in the High Street, Blaina. I have no idea when she died, so perhaps this is going beyond anyone's living memory.
Blaina - Hall Family
Currently doing research on the Hall family in 1870's. James Hall born abt 1840 and children John, Elizabeth and Louisa who were born in Blaina. James was living with Louisa but not sure if they were married.
Hall family

red mail Lewis Family
I am looking for information on the Lewis family of Blaina and of James Lewis in particular. James was born in Blaina circa 1818 but moved to Merthyr Tydfil sometime before 1840. (It is possible but not certain that his father's name was Morgan Lewis of Aberystruth, Monmouthshire). James married a Martha Thomas from Varteg in 1840 and lived and worked as a collier in Dowlais and Troedyrhiw until his death. As James was my 3x greatgrandfather it would be good to hear from anyone with connections or information.
