red mail O'CONNOR, Bryan 1766
Dr Bryan O'CONNOR b.1766 Bantry, Cork was convicted of High Treason in 1799 and transported on the 'Minerva' to New South Wales. He returned to his wife Jane MCCARTHY in Ireland 1809. Their children were Ellen 1797, Ellen(2) 1814, John 1816, Honora 1818. Bryan had two sisters Margaret O'CONNOR (probably married John JAGOE in 1795) and Mary Lavina O'CONNOR married William Henry ALCOCK, and a brother Charles O'CONNOR. William Henry Alcock and Florence McCarthy(probably Jane's brother) were transported at the same time as Bryan. Bryan probably died in 1830 in Clonakilty, Cork. I know nothing of his grandchildren or his nieces and nephews. I descended from the daughter Bryan had in Australia. I would be interested in finding more about his Irish descendants.

I would like to find out more on my Ellis great-great-grandfather, Dixie Ellis -- m. Catherine Vickery of Whiddy Island, Bantry, Co. Cork around 1818. Dixie reputedly born Donegal in 1770s, and believed to be station on Whiddy Island with army at the time. Have full Vickery tree but would appreciate any Ellis background. Dixie did have a brother, Arthur (their parents Hercules & Frances (nee Coddington) Ellis) who m. Jane Brabazon. Finer details of Dixie and Arthur requested.

red mail Crimmins (Cremins, Cremen etc) from Bantry
We are searching for connections to and information about the Crimmins (and variants such as Cremin etc) family from Bantry. My wife's g/grandfather was Michael Henry Crimmins born abt 1840 in Bantry. He was a sailor who emigrated to Brisbane Australia in early 1860s. His father was Timothy Francis Crimmins, his mother Sophia Melifont both (apparently) born in Bantry about 1805-1820. We know of one brother to Michael, Timothy Francis Crimmins b.1846 in Bantry who emigrated to USA in late 1860s or early 1870s and married Martha Crandall in 1872, and lived in New York (Sparrowbush) and Mass. (Boston/Medford). We learnt about Timothy Jr from a descendant Charlie Lambert of Mass. USA. If anyone can help with advice about this family or how to search for their records in Bantry it would be appreciated. Is there a Heritage Centre (like the Mallow Heritage Centre in East Cork) which can help with Bantry family history? Thanks
