Dougans of Renfrewshire & Lanarkshire
I am researching the Dougans family: James Dougans born 1852 - father Alexander b 1812 - mother Sarah Ann Buchanan b 1810. When James was 18 it is thought he was in HM Prison Glasgow but I have no details. His father Alexander was a master shoemaker and they lived at 75,King Street, Pollockshaws? Eastwood. Alexander's father was William b 1777 who married Margaret McQueen. In 1798 he was in the Joles Regiment. I can find no trace of this regiment. Any information on this family would be appreciated.
