red mail MOORE
Trying to trace my Moore ancestors, who came to Donaghadee, N Ireland as part the Montgomery settlement in the 1600s from the Ayrshire area, in particular Dalmellington. John Moore married Margaret Thomson. Thank you - Julie
Sarah Hamilton 1796-1867 born in Ireland but died in Dalmellington. She married William Smart born in Ireland 1796 and died in Kyle Union Poorhouse, Ayrshire, Scotland. They had at least three children. The oldest Jane 1826-1906 was born in Ireland. Sister Sarah was born in Inch, Wigtownshire, Scotland in 1834. Sister Margaret was born in Stranraer, Wigtownshire in 1835. I know lots about their descendants and would be happy to share. I'm interested in their ancestors.

I am trying to find out what happened to William Smail Bird's family. William Bird was born in Blantyre in 1828, son of John Bird and Margaret Gardner. He married Helen (Ellen) Campbell in Barony in 1856 and they were living at 6 Church Hill St Dalmellington at the time of the 1861 census with son John (4), daughter Helen (3) & son Peter (10 months). Ten years later he was a patient in the Mission Coast House in Saltcoats. No other member of the family is locable in the 1871 census, no trace of him or others in the 1881 and no trace of his death.
