red mail McCutcheon, Maclachlin, McLaughlin
Elizabeth Muir McCutcheon (b.19 Aug 1888 Runcorn) was my grandmother. I am trying to trace her ancestors. Her parents were William Muir McCutcheon (b.c1860 Ayrshire) and Matilda M. Maclachlin (b.c1864 Ayrshire). They were married in 1889 in Runcorn. On 1911 census William states birthplace as Kirskirkmichael, Ayrshire; and Matilda born Ayrs, The Den. No trace in Cheshire on 1881 census so I presume they moved from Ayrshire between 1881 and 1888. Also what is or where are 'Kirskirkmichael' and 'The Den'.
red mail John Farquhar m Ann Niven Dec 1784
John & Ann lived at Ballycoach farm and had several children baptised by the Rev John Ramsey in the Parish of Kirkmichael. I am trying to find out who John's parent were and who William Farquhar is ? Both John & William appear to have been married on the same day 24 December 1784 according to my reading of the Old Parish Record. John was my Great grandfather x5 and I have researched his decendents who came to New Zealand in 1864 and prospered.John/Ann's son David (b 24/6/1792) married Sarah Dunn at Stair 7/6/1816 and they lived at Slateford Farm,Maybole. Their son Robert (b Drum Shang farm 12/11/1822) married Agnes Crawford from Bute, Cumbrae. Their son, Archibald was born in Ayr. Robert was a Coachman and lived in Kenmure house, Glasgow. He and his family came to New Zealand in 1864 and prospered owning property in the South Island of New Zealand. Any information about the family or life on farms in those days would be greatly appreciated. Alan, New Zealand.
