I would be pleased to hear from anyone concerning the history of the village school in the nineteenth century.
red mail Vine/Major
My Great, Great grandfather, Edward Townsend Major was married to a Jane Vine, they lived in Littlebredy and had a daughter Sarah Elizabeth born 1849 in Littlebredy. Jane was possibly born around 1819. Any More details of either Jane Vine's family or Edward Major would be appreciated. They moved to Winterbourne Abbas at some time after Sarah's arrival and Edward was a baker.
red mail Family search, Day
My antecedents were "re-settled" in the village from Sydling St Nicholas under poor law rules. One girl is shown in a census as attending an "Industrial school" and I should appreciate any information which might be available. There is a marriage to Job Vine, but ag labs don't seem to have left many traces.
