red mail Martha Agnes MOSES Newbridge on Usk
Looking for any information on my paternal Grandmother Martha Agnes MOSES who died in NEWBRIDGE on 30th December 1939. She was born in 1895 and was married twice. Her first marriage was to a JACKSON, and her second marriage was to my Grandfather Reginald HODSON of Coventry. She is buried at Abercarn cemetery and came home to her family in Blaew Bloddau Street, Newbridge to die. She bought my Father with her, aged just 10, his name , Arthur John HODSON., born 1929. She also had an older son, a brother to Arthur, called Reginald as well but only bought my Father with her to Wales from Coventry. My father told me he remembered being with extended family in Newbridge at that time. I recently visited the address in Newbridge where an elderly resident of the street said they could remember someone with the surname MOSES way back being a teacher? I wonder if her extended family are still living there and if so would they have any more information to give me. Martha died years before I was born, and my Father was just a child. I would love to know if any pictures survive anywhere of her as I've never seen her. It is an unusual name, I am hoping someone knows something about her and her life in Wales.

red mail Sarah Jane Short and William Hillier. Newport
Hi, I am looking for the marriage between Sarah Jane Short and William Hillier, I presume it was around 1869-72, they had 11 children, their first born was Mary Ann or Elizabeth Mary Ann, there's a bit of confusion there, born about 1871 in Glamorgan. It states on census forms Sarah Jane came from Tiddington. I cannot find their marriage anywhere, I've had a thought Sarah Jane might have been married before and used her previous married name on the marriage certificate to William Hillier They lived in Newport, William Hillier was a postman, they are on the census forms from 1871 onwards. My Grandmother was Florence Mable Hillier born 1886 she married William J Wakeley. It is her birth certificate which shows Sarah Jane's former name being Short. I am at a brickwall. Would be grateful if anyone knows how I can find Sarah Jane and Williams marriage. Thank you, Regards Christine

Does anyone have any or all of the above surnames in their Family Tree Jeannette
red mail Lodge Family Caerleon
My family from Caerleon, Christchurch, and llangybi, Wales dates back into the 1740's. They were farmers in the area. In 1847 my third greatgrandfather James Lodge and his wife Charlotte Harris Lodge and six children immigrated to Philadelphia in the United States. Several of my great aunts and uncles were baptized in the church at Christchurch. It is possible that family members are buried in the cemetery, Namely William who died in 1837. Is there anyone who would be willing to visit the cemetery and inform me if any Lodge relatives lie there? I would also appreciate any photo's of the Lodge Farm and Woods. Thank you for your consideration and help. Regards, John
