WRANGHAM Kirk Merrington
I'm looking for information on the origins of Ann WRANGHAM. She was probably born c1738, somewhere in the southern part of Co Durham, and married Thomas KITCHEN (sometimes KITCHING) (1737 - 1810) at Kirk Merrington in 1755. Ann died at Auckland St Andrew in 1826. They had the following children: Mary (1768), Thomas (1769), Eleanor (1771 - 1818), Catherine (1776), Dorothy (1778 - 1864), Ralph (1782), Elizabeth (1782) and Martha (1785). I am descended from their daughter Eleanor.
red mail Anthony Jackson Shildon
My grandfather Anthony Jackson b. 25 Feb 1869 in Old Shidon and his father according to his marriage document with my grandmother was John George Jackson, both were coal miners. According to the documents I have, he was in the Gordon Highlanders for 2 1/2 years, Royal Artillery for 8 months and then joined the London Metropolitan Police for 12 1/2 yrs, later in Canada he also joined the CEF in 1916. His birthdate and place of birth are confirmed by the London Metropolitan Police while he changed his birth year to 1874 to come to Canada. I think his first wife was Elizabeth Copeland and they were married in the second quarter of 1887 registered in Durham, but I am not sure. Any help or enlightenment would be appreciated. Ian
red mail George Wilson Durham, City of
An update on my search for my great great grandfathers parents George Wilson and Susan Humphreys. I discovered on Ancestry but hit a brick wall, George Wilson, birth 1793, spouse Susan Humphreys, Durham, England. My great great grandfather George Wilson, stated on his Marriage Certificate in Australia,1873, second marriage, that his father was George Wilson, Millright, and Mother Susan Wilson, maiden name Humphreys, which to state on Marriage Certificate l would find it as fact to give such detail. Proving where George Wilson jnr came from is hard because he just always stated England. On Ancestry the details given were under the McDonald family tree, and Craig McQueen family tree, and thats where it stops as l cannot locate such trees, my great great grandfather was a Remittance Man, and came to Australia about 1853? You could say he was a colonial misfit, prison etc. He could also read and write, which many could not back then. Hoping to find extra info. Wayne Wilson.
red mail George Wilson County Durham, Co. Durham, (County, DUR, England)
Trying to locate a George Wilson, Millright, circa 1794 or could be earlier, his wife was a Susan Humphreys. My great great grandfather George Wilson, when married in Australia for 2nd tome in 1873 he stated on Marriage Certificate, that his father was George Wilson, Millright, and mother Susan Wilson, maiden name Humphreys, to give this info l tend to think its fact. Aussie George was a Remittance Man, and by his Australian events he was a colonial misfit. I discovered George Wilson, born 1781 Northumberland, and wife Susan born 1786 Northumberland, this George was Millright who travelled a lot, but cannot find any more info on him and his wife Susan, if parents of Aussie George unsure, as Aussie George birth date was circa 1824 thereabouts. There are thousands plus George Wilson, but in MILLRIGHTS l narrowed it down to about seven. Have bits of info on Ancestry but this can be misleading on proper facts. Sincerely Wayne Wilson
