red mail Photographer J R Howell
I'm trying to identify a young woman in a photograph taken in the 19th century. The photographer is "J R Howell, Morriston". Was there ever a photographer of that name operating in Morriston, Wales? The woman's name is "Mary Thomas". The Mary Thomas in the photograph might have been Mary Williams before she got married. This is an entry in the 1871 census showing that a Mary Thomas (nee Williams) was married to an Ebenezer Thomas and living in Llanwonno with her husband at the time of the census. She's listed as having been born in Morriston and aged 23 in 1871 (hence born around 1848)
