I am currently tracing my roots through Herefordshire and have hit a brick wall tracing the maiden name of my 3rd Great Grandmother. My 3rd Great Grandfather's name was William Taylor 1791 to 1863 He married Elizabeth Frances ***** on 28th February 1829 at Ledbury. Elizabeth Frances ***** was born in 1791 and unfortunately died at Ledbury in 1839, just 10 years after being married William. I believe that they had 5 children - Mary 1819, Elizabeth 1826, James 1827, Susan 1829, George 1832 (My 2nd Great Grandfather) and Sarah 1835.

I am researching my husband's direct line, family surname Birchley, the family lived in Castlemorton at least from abt 1600 to the late 18th Century. I would like to find anyone from the same family so that we can compare notes, and also find out more about where they lived in Castlemorton etc. The line, if I am correct, is as follows:- Thomas Birchley b abt 1600 Thomas 1624 Samuel b 1661 m Jane Lane Joseph b 1711 m Elizabeth Alliott Benjamin b 1740 m Alice Bailey Thomas b 1772 m Sarah ? This Thomas went to Kent, see notes below. 'Born in 1772 in Barton, Worcestershire (Now Warks?), he was apprenticed on 20th May1786 just before his 14th birthday as a Brazier in Kidderminster in Worcestershire to Fra (Frank? Frances? ) Bishop. Later Thomas served on the ship 'Gibralter' and one an award for his part in 'Lord Howes Victory' on 1st June 1794. Defeat of Fench Fleet and capture of six sail of The Line, and one sunk. He was a private in the 25th Regiment. In the 1851 Census, aged 79 Thomas was a labourer in Swanscombe,Kent.'

Would appreciate information on the several Benjamin Bills of Ledbury. A Benjamin Bill married an Elizabeth ????????? around 1800 to 1812 (or later) when a child was born to them called Jane Bill (1812) followed by several other children. Benjamin was apparently lived 1789-1866 and Elizabeth lived 1791-1826. But I cannot find their marriage record. Does anyone have some information on that wedding, assuming it did occur.

Poytress/Bartlett Tirley
My gt. Grandmother Louisa was born to Sarah Bartlett abt. 1843. Sarah then had Lucinda but gave her the surname Poytress. Sarah then married William Paytress and had two boys. She died in 1851/2 and at the census in 1851 was living with mother Elizabeth Bartlett. William remarried another younger Elizabeth Bartlett and had another family.
