red mail Hollingsworth, Bell Inn, Pensax
John Hollingsworth, blacksmith, took over running the Bell Inn by 1830 - he was there when newspaper reported death of his wife Helen (Ellen). In 1841/51 census he is listed there with his 2nd wife Elizabeth and daughter Elizabeth from his first marriage. In 1853 he died of injuries from being thrown from a cart he was driving along the turnpike road, age 53, The licence was transferred to his wife Elizabeth, and she was still running the inn at the 1861 census. Daughter Elizabeth married Thomas Jackson at Pensax in 1851. John's brother Albert Hollingsworth may have been his predecessor at Bell Inn, but I don't know who had it before him. I want to find out why they came there from Cheshire. And are there any images of the Bell Inn before it was rebuilt in the late 19th century? (The name Hollingsworth sometimes appears as Hollingworth.)
