searching for John MCMASTER B: 1810 D: 1854 and Janet JAMIESON B: 1819 D: 1855 married 1.1.1838 Paisely Renfrew. Children - Margaret 1839 D:1860, Jane B:1842 D:1861 John B: 1844 Mary B: 1850 James B:1853. The orphaned Mary and James were sent to Australia in 1862 on the Red Jacket aged 12 and 9. Even though parents are recorded on the Poor Laws 1854 there was money for migration, family story of a castle inherited by Mary and also gold jewellery sent to Melbourne. my grandfathers parents Arthur Tierney and Bridget Mc Mahon married in Ireland and moved to Orr square Paisley and then to Old Sneddon in 1883...they had four children...Arthur in 1884 William in 1887 Mary in 1890 and Annie 1893..i know William and Mary came to tyrone Ireland sometime before the 1901 census to live with mc mahons in lurganboy errigal.i cant get much on Mary or the brother and sister that stayed in Scotland...any help would be much appreciated..thank you patricia

Information needed about EDWARD COCHRAN(E) who I think came from RENFREWSHIRE, born about 1780. he was a Watchmaker, but moved at some point to Northern Ireland, and set up a Watch and Clock buisness with a ROBERT SHAW (known as COCHRAN & SHAW) in Lurgan, Northern Ireland. Seeking any information about John U. Muir, born in 1770 in Aryshire and his Father and Mother, Thomas Muir and Margaret Brown Muir. John U. married Diana Winnett in 1797, daughter of Major William Winnett of the 13th Regiment of Foot. John U. and Diana had the following children: Thomas, Margaret, John, James, Robert, Janet and Allen. The family resided in Paisley until about 1818 when the entire family sailed to Canada on the ship Commerce. This line of Muirs continued to have large families and have long been established in and around Woodstock and Brantford, Ontario.

Hello everybody and good day. I was curious about my surname Renfroe. I know if comes from Renfrew but I know nothing of my family past from Scotland. Can anybody tell me if Renfroe has a clan or if Renfroe is even a sept of a clan? I am dying to learn my history because a am a proud American Scot.
