Looking for information on my 3rd great grandfather John MCGREGOR born 1829 in Paisley. He married Ann BLACKIE MCALPINE on 19 October 1849 in Paisley. 1851 shows him in Saltcoats on Raise Street. He had a daughter Elizabeth born 1850 and a son Thomas born possibly 1853 in Saltcoats. John died possibly 1854. Ann marries a Robert Paton on 6 March 1856 in Paisley. We appreciate any information. We are looking for information on the family of George Kerr, my husband's grandfather. George was born in Saltcoats on 7th July 1895 to James and Rachel Kerr (Rachel's maiden name was Cruickshank). James and Rachel were married in 1891. He was born in 1863 in Saltcoats and Rachel was born in 1859 in Knowes of Elreck Banffshire ( I don't know if I have that quite right). According to the 1901 census the family was still living in Saltcoats, Ardrossen, Ayrshire. George migrated first to America in 1923 and then to Melbourne, Australia. His wife Mary and his two sons, James and John, joined him in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

I have John Maitland born 1804 married to Margaret Spiers (b 1806 West Kilbride) in 1828 in Saltcoates. He was a Flesher in Ardrossan an West Kilbride till his death in 1836 when Margaret took over, eventually becoming a cloth merchant. They had 4 children that I know of:- John, Janet, Mary and Robert who was born the same year his father died.

They had two children who show up in the 1881 British census, John born about 1871 and Margaret about 1873. William's full name was William Alexander East Thomson.
