red mail Farm History, St.Mellons
I am trying to make contact with anyone, whose ancestors ( probably Surname JONES ) were Farmers in St.Mellons, around about 1900....1940. The name of the Farm, where my Grandmother ( Mary Elizabeth JONES ) was one of the daughters, was PYLLE DU. I am not sure I have the name correctly spelled, but the pronounciation , for an English speaker was :- Pill Dee ( which would probably make a Welsh speaker cry ! There were other farms, which were in the Jones and related families, I can only re-call them by their (phonetic ) names,NOT the correct spelling in Welsh ! :- Maes yr Hedydd, the Vaindre, Lisvaine,Tyn a Phunnon,. If you are related to anyone who was owner/worker on any of those farms, between 1900 and say, 1945 , I would love to hear from you!
