red mail John Jones of Varteg Hill, Trevethin.
I am trying to find out information regarding my ancestor John Jones who was working at Varteg Hill as labourer in October 1840. He was married to Pheobe nee Jones on 17 April 1824 in Trevethin and was mentioned in the 1841 Census as being born out of county. John and Pheobe had a son Daniel born 1825, Thomas born 1830, Evan 1831, John 1833, William 1836 Henry 1836 Mary 1839 and Eleanor September 1840. I know that Pheobe was born in Cilgerran Pembrokeshire. I have not discovered baptisms of any of the children. They had moved out of Varteg by the 1841 Census - his age was rounded to 50. Pheobe was a widow by 1851 census. I am trying to establish where John Jones originated from and to get more detail.
