red mail toll collector
my great great grandfather, benjamin fisher, was toll collector in white ladies aston for a time.he was born around 1825 and had a large family(8)children.the boy called john,i understand, stayed in the village(i'm not sure how many of them did so)and, the text says,"dropped dead while mowing".his grandson was killed when a log fell on him.if anyone has any details about other family members i would be grateful for them.someone asked when the fisher family first came to ombersley.i believe this was in 1896 when albert came bringing his wife and 6 children. he went on to have 2 more.his address was listed as parsonage which was at holt fleet i think.hope this is useful.
