Gray, Malcolm
Malcolm Gray, born about 1784 South Ronaldsay, married Jane Sophia Peake 1819 in Surrey where she was born. They went back to his farm on Orkney and had 6 children. Does anyone know why he was in Surrey? I now know that Malcolm was in the Royal Navy and presumably his ship docked in London. Can anyone shed more light on Malcolm himself, or know of any Royal Navy records from the early 1800s?

red mail Stanger(Stensgair) Corrigal
George Stanger born in Birsay 1821 married Margaret Corrigal, born in Birsay 1821, daughter of William Corrigal. Married in 1841, Georges ship went down in Scapa Flow in 1853-54. Margaret died in Birsay in 1905. Georges father may have been William Stensgair born in 1782 in Walker House Evie, and married Janet Taylor in 1813. Any Stanger or Corrigals still in Stromness or Birsay or Kirkwall? George and Margarets oldest son William, born in 1841 and died in 1927, sailed to Canada to work for the Hudson Bay Company. He married Charlotte Louise Moir of Sterling, Scotland.
