red mail George Gauld (1872-1937)
George originally came from Aberdeen and died in Bayswater, Middlesex. Married Lavinia Campbell Mullins with sons Leslie and Stanley. Census and marriage shows him working as attendant. Unsure who his parents are- theres a George Gauld married with Ann Smart in Aberdeen though they seem too old to have had George in 1872. This George (married with Ann) seems have been the son of James Gauld and an Isabel Geddes? Sadly, its a common name in the Aberdeen area so theres many false leads to go down. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you!
Jean Lewis ROSS
I am trying to find the parents of Jean Lewis ROSS, who was born on 22/10/1906 , in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. She married Albert Booth in Hull, Yorkshire, in 1928. Jean died in Hull, in 1967. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Gillian.
Seeking any information on Phanuel J Duncan and his sister Dorothy known to have been born 1897-1901 in Bedulla,Ceylon(Sri Lanka)....they are shown on 1911 Census 9 Richmond Place,Aberdeen
red mail Mr George GAULD and Ms Ann SMART married April 16 1864
Hi, was searching for information on the above people. Ann and George married in 1864 in Aberdeen. 16 Apr 1864 Old Machar,Aberdeen,Scotland George Gauld 1 Source They had a few children who are sourced in their baptismal records as having Mr George Gauld and Ms Ann Smart as their parents. Birth of Son Robert Gauld(1867) 29 Jan 1867 Saint Nicholas,Aberdeen,Aberdeen,Scotland 1867 Birth of Son John Gauld(1869) 16 Sep 1869 Saint Nicholas,Aberdeen,Aberdeen,Scotland 1869 Birth of Son George Gauld(18721937) 1872 The, city, of, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 1872 George 1872-1937 Gauld was my great grandfather- he died at St Luke's House, Bayswater, Middlesex. However, here's where it gets confusing. All George Sr and Ann's kids turn up living with Ms Elizabeth Smart and Ann, still using the name SMART in various census records, with Elizabeth as 'Mother'. Ann married George so she should have been GAULD and why the kids would turn up as Elizabeth's children is unclear- presumably Elizabeth was Ann's mother and she moved in with her if George died or something? Can anyone locate the names of George's parents and Ann's as the marriage record on Anc is a text only, so there's no image like there has been to save the day with other shallowly transcribed records? Thankyou!
red mail Flora MacDonald Anderson (nee Burley)
I am seeking any information on the above who was born July 1900, died September 1998. Interestingly, she married in 1972, an Alexander C Anderson. Flora spent most of her life in Aberdeen, attending Aberdeen High School for Girls, Aberdeen University and then Somerville College, Oxford. She worked in the League of Nations Secretariat from 1929-32. I am awaiting a copy of her marriage certificate but can anyone shed any light on who Alexander C Anderson was? All information and suggestions gratefully received. Thank you.
red mail GAULD, George 1872- unknown died in Sutton, Surrey, England.
Looking desperately to get any available details on Mr George Gauld who lived between 1872 and unknown death date. He married Lavinia Campbell Mullins, the daughter of Mr Robert Mullins and Isabella Bell Hamilton. He was NOT George Ogg Gauld, who was also from Aberdeen and died in Nottingham. George O Gauld was a completely different man. All that I do know about George is that he originally came from Aberdeen and died in Sutton in the South East of England. He was married to Lavinia and had the children Leslie Robert George Gauld and Stanley John Gauld. Don't know when George died. Don't know who his real parents were as there are a plethora of Georges with the surname Gauld in Aberdeen in the late C19. The most likely parents are James and Ann, Ann's surname being Cushnie. Though even this is not entirely certain. Would appreciate any help you can give. cheers.
red mail Helen Smith or McKay
Looking for any details of my grandmother Helen Smith. We think she was born in 1897 but cannot find a birth certificate despite several visits to Edinburgh. On her marriage certificate (she wed John McKay in 1922 in Aberdeen) she states that she was a bottle washer and her parents were Isabella Wilson and George Smith both of whom were deceased. We cannot find a marriage for Isabella or George. She went on to have several children with John (including my mother Ann Allan McKay who sadly died in 2013) and she died in the City Hospital, Aberdeen in 1938 aged 40 years after giving birth to baby George who died six weeks after her.My mum was two at the time. We have been searching for a date of birth for Helen (or Nell) for many years now to no avail. The family lived in Albion Street and were very poor. Helen never spoke about her parents or any siblings to her children and none of them knew when she was born or where she came from. Her only surviving child is now 85 and would love to know where her mother came from. After Helen's death in 1938 John went on to marry Lizzie McHardy and had three children to her. He died when my mum was 9. He was a labourer at Hall Russell's Shipyard. Any information would be welcome.
red mail Nicol family Huntly, Aberdeenshire
I am looking for information on Jeanie Gordon NICOL from Huntly, Aberdeenshire. She was born around 1914. She married a man named James Alexander NICOL in 1942. She died in 1991 in Aberdeen at age 77. I wanted to know if she had any children.
red mail GLENNY, Rachel and GAULD, James, late c18-early c19, Aberdeen.
Trying desperately to find the parents of the above named people, as these are the furthest I can get. They had a son Edgar. He married MORGAN, Isabella. They had a son also called Edgar. He married OGG, Catherine, and had a son George Ogg Gauld, who had a son Leslie Robert George Gauld. I can't get anywhere more than GAULD, James and GLENNY, Rachel, however. Hoping somebody could help? Cheers!
red mail sisters Jean and Lizzie McKenzie
trying to trace above McKenzie sisters who lived in Summerfield Terrace Aberdeen city and worked in the King Street Post Office nearby. Other family names may have been John and Isabella. Do not have dates of residence. Could have been anytime from early 1900's onwards.
