TULLY, Mathew & Elen, Pottle - Colvin or King connection? Drung
My 3x great-grandparents Hugh COLVIN and Margaret KING were married in 1850 in Drung Parish, County Cavan. The address is shown as Pottle, and this is still their address on an 1861 baptism record. Hugh was a former soldier born in 1803 and was probably much older than Margaret as the children I have found for them were born about 1859, 1861, 1863 and 1868. From the 1821 census, Hugh's siblings were Edward, Michael, Catherine and Anne (born about 1808). The witnesses for the 1850 marriage were Mathew Tully and Elen Tully. I would like to try and find out more about Mathew and Elen to see if they are connected to the Colvin or King families. On the 1901 census there is a Mathew Tully age 75 and his wife Anne age 70 living at Pottle West. It is unclear if this is the same Mathew but the age would seem about right. (EDIT: I have received a message to advise me that on 10 January 1865 Mathew Tully age 30 married Anne Fitzpatrick age 18 in "Drum", County Cavan. I cannot find a Drum in Cavan so this may be "Drung" and this may be the couple on the 1901 census, although the ages differ significantly.) Any assistance greatly appreciated.
