McMANUS/ROONEY families Ballyjamesduff Ballyjamesduff, Baile Sheamais Dhuibh
I'm seeking information about the family of William McMANUS (1823-1892) from Ballyjamesduff,Co.Cavan.He was the son of Patrick McMANUS,Farmer, and Annie "Nancy" ROONEY,my 3x Great Grandparents. There were 2 other siblings,Andrew and Mary, who came out to Sydney on the "Hope" in Jan.1842. He may have had a much younger sister Ann(1833-1906) who emigrated to Melbourne in Feb.1850 who never married.(There may have been other siblings also who remained in Ireland.) I haven't been able to find William's emigration details. He arrived in Australia before 1846,when he married Anne TRAINOR from Knockbride, Co.Cavan in the Roman Catholic church in Melbourne. They settled on a farm at Willowmavin, near Kilmore,Victoria where they raised 5 children-Patrick (1847-?),Margaret,(my Great Grandmother),(1848-1938), Mary,(1850-1890),Annie (1853-1894),and John (1855-1919). I would be grateful for any information.

Margaret Horton is my mother and she moved from Ballyjamesduff to England and subsequently married my father. I would like to find more about her and her family. She was baptised in the church in Ballyjamesduff and the priest (presumed dead now) who baptised her knew the family.
