Glenties (Photos)
I am looking for any old photographs of Glenties, to add to my family tree. Also looking for a local historian or archivist of Glenties. Would be grateful for any info.
Thanks

gallacher
My family originated from Glenties, by the name of gallacher. My great, great grandfather was Patrick Gallacher and he was a crofter, his wife was Marjory Kelley (kelly). His sone Edward married Mary Brown also from Glenties. Her father was John Brown and her mother was Grace Molloy. Does anyone have any information on the gallachers, browns or molloys. |
Boyle, Gallocher
My Boyle line came to Scotland from Ireland around the time of the famine. They were Charles Boyle married to Helen Gallocher (1851 Census spelling) they had three children noted in this census, Ann born about 1833, Mary about 1836 and my ggrandfather James 1841. In the census it also showed staying at the same address a family of Gallochers, Mother Margaret (believed to be the sister of Charles Boyle) her son Charles and wife Mary along with children Catherine aged 7 and Mary aged 2. All were born in Ireland except the youngest child Mary who was born in Blantyre Lanarkshire Scotland. It is belived that they came from the Glenties area, I know these two surnames are not unusual in this area and it is a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack however if anyone recognises any of this info or has any suggestions to make re further tracing I wouls be greatful to hear from you.
Thankyou Beth |
