Robert John Lester and John Ernest Lester Carrickfergus
Hi there. I am trying to find out more about RJ Lester and his son, John Ernest (Sean) Lester. Lester senior lived in Woodburn around late 1800s, and John was also born there in 1888. The father ran a family grocery store in nearby Carrick, and towards the turn of the century the family moved to Belfast and opened a similar store on Ormeau Road. Would anyone know of the former addresses in both Woodburn and Carrick? Also, any local school that John may have attended? (John married Elsie Tyrell) I understand they were Methodists. Thanks.
red mail Todd Carrickfergus
My great grandmother fanny Amelia Sarah Todd was born at glen house Carrickfergus in 1879. Her parents were Thomas and Elizabeth (nee Alexander) TODD. Thomas Todd is listed as being a merchant. Can anyone tell me anything about them?
red mail McCoubrie/Connor Carrickfergus
My g/mother was Janet Muir McCoubrie born in Westmeath to William (born in Greenock, Scot. 1862) and Isabella. Her siblings were, William (born Westmeath), and Isabella (born in Co. Tyrone). According to the 1901 census they lived in Belfast and William's occupation was a gardener. In the 1911 census they lived in Gorteen, Waterford and he was a land stewart and gardener. By that time Janet and William had left home. Janet married Samuel Connor (Carrickfergus, Co. Antrim) in 1907 and give birth to my father, William. Alexander and Margaret (Peg) came later. Janet died when her children were young and they were brought up by their grandfather Samuel Connor and Aunt Ellen. Janet was on the 1911 census but her daughter Margaret wasn't born then so I presume that she died around 1914/15. I haven't been able to find any record of where she was buried and no family members back in N.Ireland have been able to tell me anything. Help!!!!!
