Entries around
red mail Byrnes of Laragh
I would love to hear from anyone who thinks they might have Patrick Lacey and Esther Byrne(s) of Laragh, married around 1830, on their tree. They and their children John, Winney, Biddy, Hugh, Mary Ann and Peter came to South Australia in 1854 before crossing the border to Melbourne, Victoria.
red mail Rochford Family
John Rochford & Mary Holt had a son named Thomas Rochford who was born at Laragh around 1824. He married at Annamoa in 1848 to Ann Barry the daughter of Christopher Barry & Ann Byrne. The Barry family lived at Brockagh opposite the Rochford farm at Killalane. The Barry family were Stonemasons as well as Farmers. The Rochfords lived at Killalane or Laragh East in Glendalough - Wicklow - Ireland. This family are descended from a Jane Rochford through oral traditions came to Ireland from France in the 1780's as a Widow with her two sons - Thomas and John. She is buried in the Derrylossary Church Yard in 1792. Thomas Rochford and Ann Barry along with two of her sisters came to Australia in 1852 aboard the ship Marshall Bennett.
