red mail Margaret Christina O'Neill
Margaret Christina O'Neill was born in Letterkenny on 10 December 1944. She was illegitimate. The mother's name name on the birth certificate was Margaret O'Neill. No father's name was recorded. Margaret Christina was brought up by a James Boyle and his wife, Margaret Duffy in Stranorla. Their two sons, Gerald Valentine and Cyril Vincent, were teenagers when Margaret Christina was introduced into the family amid a shroud of secrecy. There was no official adoption. I have located a birth record for a Margaret O'Neill which could relate to Margaret Christina's mother _ Name: Margaret O'Neill. Mother's Surname: Boyle. Date of Registration: 1929 - Apr-May-Jun(1929). Registration district: Donegal. Birth Country: Ireland. Volume: 2. Page: 16. FHL Film Number: 101231. If this is correct and Margaret Christina's grandmother was a Boyle it would go someway to explain her being raised in a Boyle family. I cannot find a marriage record between an O'Neill and a Boyle. Could Margaret O'Neill be illegitimate the same as her own daughter? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Morag

red mail William Differ
I am researching my husbands family tree who originated from Letterkenny in Donegal. We believe that William Differs two sons Patrick and Daniel came to live in Airdrie in Scotland where they married and worked as coalminers eventually settling in Twechar Row Kirkintilloch. We believe that they were born in 1830 and 1833. This is all the information we have prior to their marriages and would be grateful for any info. We also belive that they were travelling folk hence maybe why the lack of information.
