Farrell
Scarriff, Scariff, An Scairbh
I am researching the diaspora of the Farrell family of Balloyboy near Scarriff Co. Clare in the 1870's. I have the names of 6 or more children of Patrick Farrell and Mary Morrissey. The oldest; Michael was born in 1856. The names of those who left Ireland for Victoria Australia were James, Anne, Winnifred, Patrick and Thomas. For reasons not understood the Farrells called themselves O'Farrell in Australia. Margaret and Eliza are unaccounted for. Anne was my great grandmother. Information from any descendants most welcome. |

Patrick Doyle Head Constable
Scarriff, Scariff, An Scairbh
I am trying to trace details of my paternal great grandfather one Patrick Doyle of Scariff, Co Clare. I have few details, but believe he was a Policeman there. I understand he was a Head Constable with the then RIC when his daughter (my grandmother) was born i.e. Julia Doyle b. 9/3/1888 (later Neary married in Dublin). From a scrap of paper found in a relatives belongings we believe her birth was in Scariff & was registered by her father Patrick Doyle on 31/3/1888 by a Registrar named Sampson of the Counties of Galway & Clare.
