red mail O'Hara/Toole Family Ballitore, Beal Atha an Tuair
I am a descendant of Peggie O'Hara who was transported to Van Diemen's Land in 1841 with her daughter, Bridget (aged 11) and Patrick (6). Bridget is my great great grandmother. They came from Ballitore. The name of Peggie's father was Paddy Toole (shoemaker), mother's name not known. Her husband was John O'Hara. Peggie lived to a good age on the Victorian goldfields. Her background was hidden from the family. I cannot find any documentary record of their life in Ireland. If anyone has any information or clue I would be very grateful. Stephen
red mail Jeremiah Cullen of Grangecon Hill #1 Grange Con House
Jeremiah Cullen wife Catherine and daughter Mary were living here in 1848 and immigrated from here in 1852 to Quebec where they continured to Dubuque Co. IA. In Grangecon they leased from Peirce O'Mahony. I believe Jeremiah to be related to the O'Mahony in some way. Peter Cullen Tynan Mahony a genealogist was from Dublin and his family were also in Grangecon. He has passed on now so I cannot contact him. He told me I would find the connection and let him know. I didn't know it would take 25 years. Peter has an ancestor Andrew Cullen of the area also. He is about the age of my Jeremiah with in a few years. I'd like to learn more about Jeremiah's parents and possibly Catherine's. Also were there more children. Mary married Michael Gilligan and had 7 children in Dubuque. Only one married my Great Grandfather Michael V. Any info on Cullens or Mahony's welcomed tia Marilyn

First child I am sure of is Catherine born abt.1857 in Ireland - next Margaret abt. 1861 and Frances abt. 1864 ( these dates are arrived at from age on census )Briget is born in Feb. 1865 in Ulverston in Lancashire , where Lawrence is an iron miner.
