Tullyallen; or Tulloughallen, a parish, chiefly in the barony of Ferrard, county of Louth. Seeking information on the Hannan family in Ireland.James Kirkman Mockler Hannan was born on 10 Nov. 1861 and babtised on 29 Nov.in Episcopal Free Church in the Parish of Monkstown. He died in Lydenburg, South Africa April 26, 1912. His parents were Rev.Francis Hannan, Rector of Mellifont, Drogheda Co Louth and Isabella Leaviss Kirkman, yst. dau.of major James Kirkman, Rifle Brigade. Rev. Francis was chaplain H.M.S. Ajax. and also appears on list of commissioned officers, Chaplain of H.M.S.Imaum 1847-1850. He died July 18, 1894 aged 81. His 4th son, Wm. Egbert died June 7, 1879, from wounds sustained in an attack in Basutoland. They had only daughter,Frances Margaretta Isabella, married J.H. Fullerton, F.R.I.A.I., former Diocesan Architecht. Other sons were Gilbert Alexander born Feb. 11 1866, died June 21, 1898 at Lydenburg, Transvaal. Mention of son, Rev. E.C.W. Hannan in archives and believe to be same as as Wm. Egbert. Another son Francis believe to have gone to Canada but no further info. Father of Rev. Francis Hannan believe to be Gilbert Francis and believe to have served as Bishop on Nelson's fleet. We need any relevant info. Also on possible relatives still living in Ireland and perhaps to find the church in Mellifont or the graveyard where family members were buried. Babtism Cert. from Episcopal Free Church, Kingstown - now Christ Church, Dun Laoghaire was supplied by Representative Church Body Library.
