red mail Darvell
There is a comment on here about a Ellen Darvell born approx 1850 it wont let me reply unless i pay. But the comment was added in 2008 so they might have changed email address. My dads mother was Ellen Darvell from Amersham then lived in Chesham. My gran Ellen was born about 1879 give or take a couple yrs. her brother owned Darvells bakers in the 70s. My gran Ellen died in 1945 i think might be wrong though. of cancer. and is buried in Chesham Cemetery.

red mail William Bower
I am researching my grandparents - William Bower and Jessie Ellen (nee Topp). My grandfather had a jewellers shop at 24 High Street Chesham. Family tales abound about them previously owning/leasing/managing a pub at Chesham Bois - "The Unicorn". I can't find any written evidence for this - but my father (died last year) helped getting the beer barrels from the cellar when he was engaged to my mother Pauline Bower - so all a bit confusing! Would be grateful for any information

I am researching my family on my fathers side some brothers in the sills family owned a bootmakers in chesham either the early 1900s or late 1800s hence the alleway behind boots chemist in chesham called sills yard. Annie sills had 4 sons called albert, joe, chris and frank she may have had more children not sure. frank was born after she married mr gates so he was frank gates. chris and albert were born before her marriage to mr gates but for some unknown reason albert had his surname changed to gates. Not sure when joe was born think he was born joe gates. I have a picture of chris sills with his stepbrother albert not sure of the date it was though. I know albert was born in 1879 and died in 1959 and is buried in winslow. Any information would be much appreciated thank you.

red mail WATERTON of Chesham c1650
I am interested in the Waterton family, who became widespread over the border in and around Berkhampstead, Herts, but seem to have had their origins in Ashley Green c1650 or earlier: they were stalwarts of the Baptist Church. If you have or want any info, please contact me Donald

The widow Ann Butterfield (nee Noah) married James Hollington my GG Grandad in 1877 and they lived in Northchurch - the 1891 census says 28 Ellesmere Road. They both died in 1908. It was my GG Grandad's second marriage - his first wife died in 1862 in London.

red mail Putnams of Chesham
I am interested in the family of James Putnam 1770 to abt1851 + . He married Lydia Shirley in 1797. I can trace his family forward to present day but I'd like to trace back to how his family links in with other Putnams of Chartridge, Cholsey and Chesham. I think his parents may have been John Putnam and Elizabeth Norris married 1764. Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone know anything about John Putnam or Elizabeth Norris? Did he have a brother James who was a clockmaker?
