red mail Nash family of Chesham
Does anyone have details on the Nash family of Chesham area? Edia Nash married Thomas Meadom 23/5/1793 at St Mary's, Chesham. These were my gt gt gt grandparents. Have some information on the Meadoms, but the Nash connection to Edia escapes me. Their daughter Lydia was part of a large family, many of whom have Antipodean descendants. Lydia married James Child. There seemed to be a large number of unmarried Nashes in Chesham in the early 19th century, but they have not connected up yet.
I am researching my family on my fathers side some brothers in the sills family owned a bootmakers in chesham either the early 1900s or late 1800s hence the alleway behind boots chemist in chesham called sills yard. Annie sills had 4 sons called albert, joe, chris and frank she may have had more children not sure. frank was born after she married mr gates so he was frank gates. chris and albert were born before her marriage to mr gates but for some unknown reason albert had his surname changed to gates. Not sure when joe was born think he was born joe gates. I have a picture of chris sills with his stepbrother albert not sure of the date it was though. I know albert was born in 1879 and died in 1959 and is buried in winslow. Any information would be much appreciated thank you.
red mail Putnams of Chesham
I am interested in the family of James Putnam 1770 to abt1851 + . He married Lydia Shirley in 1797. I can trace his family forward to present day but I'd like to trace back to how his family links in with other Putnams of Chartridge, Cholsey and Chesham. I think his parents may have been John Putnam and Elizabeth Norris married 1764. Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone know anything about John Putnam or Elizabeth Norris? Did he have a brother James who was a clockmaker?
