red mail Johanna (Judith) Maria OSHEA/SHEA B 1838-9 Kilkenny Kilkenny, Cill Chainnigh
Hello I have a descendant named Johanna Maria OSHEA/ SHEA. Johanna was born 1838-9 Kilkenny Ireland. Johanna was mis-transcribed as Judith on the ships list of the "Nashwauk " (which crashed and sunk just off landing in South Australia in 1855). A Mary Oshea/Shea of Kilkenny was also onboard. Both girls were sent out to Australia as Irish Servant Immigrants in 1855. Both girls had requested Sydney. By 1859 Johanna and the mounted police trooper John Bentley (who helped rescue all the Irish immigrant girls in the ship) were situated in Sydney. From Sydney Johanna and John were posted to firstly Stuart Town then Rockley then Bathurst then Hartley and they had 10 children along the way. Johanna resided in Mount Victoria and two of her sons ran two seperate farms in Little Hartley for many years. Johanna lists Michael Oshea/Shea (farmer of Kilkenny) as her father on her certificates here in Australia (mother Unknown). Johanna was 16 when she arrived in SA in 1855. She had requested Sydney so I am wondering if she may have had relatives nearby? Sandra (Wollongong NSW)
red mail FISHER family of Glenmore County Kilkenny, Cill Channaigh, KID, (Province of Leinster, Laighin)
I have Susan Fisher bp 17 Nov 1818 (of Ballycrony) at Glenmore R.C.; father Thomas Fisher, mother Anastatia Murphy. They were married at Glenmore on 23 Nov 1812 (of Bussherstown). There were two older sisters and two younger brothers of Susan born of the marriage, and baptised at Glenmore. I am seeking Susan Fisher b.c 1819, supposedly a sister of Susan. Susan Fisher (definitely) and Sarah Fisher (?) departed from Cork in 1835 for London prior to boarding the "Charles Kerr" bound for Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) in July 1835. It is possible/likely that Susan and Sarah were not related - and that Sarah may not have been born in Ireland. Any help in finding Sarah in Ireland would be most gratefully received. Jay
SAWYER CLARK Kilkenny, Cill Chainnigh
Trying to track down details of Ann SAWYER born about 1827 in Ireland. Her father was Daniel SAWYER, mother unknown. She married Henry CLARK around 1846 in Kilkenny, Ireland. He was there as a soldier with the Staffordshire 64th Foot regiment and had just joined up from Holbeach. They had one child Edward Henry CLARKE who was born in Tipperary Ireland abt 1847. Henry died (cause unnkown) in Ireland in Nov 1847. Ann then married Joseph GULL on 19 Jun 1849 in Whaplode, Lincolnshire (near where her first husband was from). She is listed as a widow on their marriage certificate. She and Joseph (along with her son from her first marriage) then emigrated to Australia in 1852. I am interested in any details on the SAWYER or CLARKE side. Thanks Lis.

Hi. I am trying to find any connection for a Patrick ( possibly ) William O'MEARA B. around the late 1800s early 1900s, Patrick / Ws father was also called Patrick if i have the correct one from the 1911 Census he was B. Abt.1856 but where ? The 1911 Census shows his wife as Marianne married 12 years but only 2 children which means that Patrick married again at around 43 years of age. The 1901 Census shows his wife then as Annie B. Abt 1872. Could any one out there help point me in the right direction.
