red mail Fitzgerald - Haddon Clonmel, Cluain Meala
Nga mihi o te Kirihimete. Seasons greetings from Aotearoa, New Zealand. I am looking for information about Hannah Fitzgerald who married James Haddon or Hadden at St Mary's, Clonmel on Dec 3 1833. He was a soldier with the Royal Artillery and is noted on the marriage record as living in the barracks at the time. There is no further information about Hannah, such a s parents etc. The birth of their son John is noted in Dec 1834, but again, no further information about Hannah and her origin. Our oral traditions acknowledge another child Mary Ann, born 1833. Excuse my ignorance, but why was the British Army in Tipperary, and how long were they there? Or, was this part of a British, Irish alliance? I find this all very interesting. James is of Scottish origin. Any information would be greatly appreciated

I am looking for information about James Butler and his wife Mary (Crotty?) who owned the Great Globe Hotel on Bagwell Street in Clonmel, Co.Tipperary, in the early to mid-1800s. The parents of my 2nd great-grandfather John Butler were James and Mary Crotty Butler, and I believe the hotel owners might be them. Bagwell Street later became Parnell Street. There is a James Butler who died in 1837 in the will index who might be this James and his widow Mary probably continued operation of the hotel. Thanks.
