The Hamilton family was associated with Ballygawley in the 1700s/1800s. David HAMILTON b c1797, place unknown, died 1967, Ballygawley, TYR, his wife Catherine YOUNG, b c1798, place unknown, died 1886 Ballygawley, TYR. Both are buried in the Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Six identified children: William, Samuel, Margaret, John, David, Elizabeth. Five emigrated to Victoria, Australia in the mid 1800s. John settled in Milford, Armagh, where he lived and died in 1925. William "may" have married Jane UNKNOWN before emigrating. Samuel HAMILTON married Margaret McCALLION in Aughnacloy, Tyrone c1860 before emigrating in 1867.

The Liggett family farmed in Keady townland from the late 17oo's. John Liggett was buried in St. Matthias churchyard, Ballygawley although they were Presbyterians. Does anyone have information about the family or other Liggetts of Tyrone?

I was adopted by William and Edith Patterson in 1943. They had a small farm at Killymorgan, on the Sixmile cross Road, out of Ballygawley. I left Northern Ireland to live in England in 1957, but have often wondered if my Father William Patterson has any surviving family members left. My Father (William) died in Dungannon Hospital on 27th January 1953 aged 65 and my Mother Edith Patterson died in Dungannon Hospital on 13th August 1969, aged 75.

The Mann family was associated with Ballygawley and surrounding parishes from abt 1800-1900. Thomas Mann (c. 1773-1822) is believed to have been the land agent for Sir John Stewart. Children were:Jane, Maria, Esther, Elizabeth, Mervyn, Hugh, William Henry, Thomas, Deane and Emily. Thomas' brother, Deane, held Dunmoyle Lodge.
