red mail Warnock Magherally, and Parish
I am looking for information about my great grandfather THOMAS WARNOCK who said in later census' in Scotland that he was from Magherally, County Down. Thomas was born to John Warnock and Jane Peden about 1817. Sometime before 1848 he went to Scotland and married Jane Pollock. After she died, Thomas married my great grandmother MARY BARCLAY. Any information or hints would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
red mail Potts family Cappagh Cappagh
I am trying to find out if there are any Potts out there who recognize this history. In 1733 three brothers, William (d.1756), John and Andrew, buy a farm together at Cappagh. William has a son, Andrew who has a son John. John marries Mary Todd. They have 3 sons - John (who went to the U.S.), Andrew (no issue), and James (b.1786) who married Jane Alexander, and 4 daughters (names not known). James had a son, Andrew (b.16 Nov 1819) who married Esther Sturgeon, and 2 daughter who died in infancy. Andrew had 4 children - James (b. 1850, whose descendents are in New Zealand), John Sturgeon (b. 1851, Australia), Mary (b. 1853, Married William Mulligan and went to America) and Elizabeth (b. 1854). Andrew married a second time to Eliza Jane (Alexander) Spiers and had 3 more children - Andrew Alexander (my great grandfather, b. 1859, went to New Zealand and married Louisa Lily Vant there in 1886), Jane Alexander (b. 1861), William Albert (b. 1864). Eliza also had a child from a previous marriage - Elizabeth Spiers (b. 1854). In a letter Andrew Alexander wrote to his brother James in 1889, he mentions Loughbrickland Presbyterian church and 'Willie's exhibits at the Banbridge cattle show'. I would like to be able to confirm this history, flesh it out, as well as contact any descendents. Margaret.
