red mail Bartlett descendent New Zealand
I am travelling to UK in September and intend to visit E.Chinnock. My Great great Grandfather was John Bartlett(wife Maria) who arrived in NZ (Nelson) 1842. His cousin, Nathaniel Bartlett arrived about the same time but in Wellington and was a pioneer in the area I live in . If any interested party has the time I have items of interest relating to both men and their families. Regards Dennis
red mail Emigration in 1841
In October 1841 my great-great-grandparents, Israel and Ann Trask and their children Israel (9), Enoch (7), Kerenhappuch (3), and Mary (6 mths) emigrated aboard the Clifton which sailed 2 October 1841 arriving in Port Nicholson (Wellington) in New Zealand on 17 February 1842. Israel died March 1843 leaving Ann to raise 4 children on her own. Also aboard the Clifton was Ann's sister Elizabeth nee Bartlett, and her husband James Hallett, Joseph and Elizabeth Bicknell, (Elizabeth was the daughter of William & Grace Pike nee Trask), and Nathanial and Sarah Bartlett. Also there was 18 year old Harriett Trask who had sailed with the Trask family and apparently left behind a child, Charles Trask. I would like to hear from and members of the above families and what happened to Harriett's son Charles. Note the ship was the Clifton not the Clifford. The Clifford didn't depart till December 1841 and sailed to Nelson. Regards, Peter

red mail Theophilus Bartlett
Re - My g-g-grandfather was Theophilus Bartlett born East Chinnock in 1805. He married Jane Crofts. Thanks to all those who sent me details of his parents and siblings. It was interesting that there were two baptism dates but I then found that a Theophilus Bartlett was also buried in 1803, so I guess he had an older brother of the same name. His parents must then have decided to baptise him on the same date, albeit three years later.
