I am looking for any information about the origins of my third great grandfather John King and his wife Eleanor, her family name is unknown. John King was born 1792 - 1796 in Frome, Somerset, left to go to South Africa on the Government Settler Scheme, from Portsmouth, on 7th January 1820 on the ship , the "Weymouth" with Hymans party. John King has also been described as a labourer or a weaver, or a naval pensioner. Departed with 2 children: John b. 1818, Eleanor, b. 1819, also later fathered Sarah and Jane.

Charles Bridges born 1820 married a Elizabeth Bridges Farmborough 1849. cannot find Father, Mother .
Richard GIBLETT (b.1753) married Sarah SHEPPARD at Frome in 1783. Known children: Ann (d. 1787); John (woollen cloth manufacturer of Frome, had children Henrietta and Mary); Samuel; Thomas (mar. Isabella HOOPER, had children Richard, Ann, Sarah, John, Jane, Harriet); Mary (mar. James WEBSTER, my ancestor); Sarah (mar. George WEBSTER); Elizabeth (not married). Some of this family were buried in Nunhead cemetery (London). There is a connection between Richard GIBLETT of Frome and John GIBLETT of Shepton Mallet. I'm looking for any information on the family of Charlotte SHEAT,born 1818 in Kilmersdon,Somerset.She was the daughter of Jane SHEAT,born 1783 in Somerset,died 1834 in Kilmersdon, Somerset. In 1850, in Cuckfield,Sussex, Charlotte married Alexander MALCOLM from Prestonkirk,Scotland.They had a daughter,Mary Ann,born in 1851 in Cuckfield,then a son,Alexander,in 1852 in Bunny,Nottingham.In 1852-53 the family emigrated to Geelong,Victoria,Australia.Sadly Mary Ann died on the voyage over,then Alexander died in 1853 near Geelong,Victoria.In 1853 another child was born-John Alexander,then in 1858,my Great Grandfather,William "Frank" Malcolm. UPDATE..... I have found 2 possible siblings for Charlotte-Betty,baptised 1804,Ditcheat,Somerset,and Mary Anne,baptised 1814 in Leigh upon Mendip.There was no father listed for these 3 girls,only their mother,Jane Sheat.I would welcome any contact with descendants of these siblings or would love to hear from anyone who knows anything about this family.

I am looking for the ancestry of Lewis FLOWER and Mary SIMMS, who married in 1756 at Dunkerton, Somerset. They had 6 children, Lucy, James, Mary, George, Christian and Mark. I can only find one mention of a Lewis FLOWER outside of this marriage and that was for a child born to a Mary HORWOOD (married to Joseph HORWOOD) in 1768. Does anyone have any details of Lewis before his marriage, or Mary. Thank you.

Looking for any information relating to farmers Thomas and Sarah DARK originally of Broughton Gifford in Wiltshire who lived in Farmbrough Somerset from at least 1818 to 1822. They baptised three children in this time: Alfred in1818, John in 1820 and Sarah in 1821/22. They were tenents of the PPOPHAM family who owned large estates in Broughton Gifford, Farmborough and Ramsbury, as well as other places. The DARK family moved to Ramsbury in Wiltshire by 1824, where Thoms Dark died at a very young age in 1825. I'd also be interested in hearing from any POPHAM tenants around this time.. .
