red mail Peter Family Lenchie,Rothienorman,Auchterless,Forgue
handwritten note circa 1910 Dear Hellen (Helen Leone Mignon), The scotch address is the old home where father was born also where the Peters have lived some hundreds of years. Lenchie Auchterless by Rothienorman Aberdeenshire Scotland. It is 35 miles from Aberdeen where I was born also all of our family is about 6 miles from there , named Ythan Wells by the river of Forgue Aberdeenshire. The church that stands there beside the school is the one my dear father (George Peter) had the contract for two years before we came to America. Your everloving Aunt Georgina (1848 Peter-Hanson) I am searching for the house and the Peter family associated with Peterhead, Monquhitter, Auchterless, ythan Wells, Forgue, New Deer or abouts.
red mail George Peter son of Alexander Peter/ Elisabeth Robertson
Birth date and verbal stories (robertson) confirm (for me) that Alexander Peter and Elisabeth Robertson are Georges parents. Married 25 January 1795 in Drumblade. Children as follows: Margaret Peter 27 Jun 1797, Jane Peter 11 April 1799, James Peter 27 Sept 1800, Alexander 19 Jan 1803 and George 24 May 1812 in Auchterless and died 14 July 1882 in San Fransisco, California USA at aged 70 yrs .... although accounts written down circa 1920 state that George was the youngest of seven so maybe two died early and not listed? I would love to see or hear anything that confirms this, letters of relatives mentioning George as a stable boy for the Center Family or his marriage at Montquhitter 1842 to Margaret Center. Anything mentioning George working for/building the school before 1870 when he took his family to America.
red mail Peter-Center (Senter)
All I have on George Peter is that he was born 1811/12, was stableboy to Alexander Center, father of Margaret Center, whom George married in 1842 at Montquhitter. ,They had 14 children, one whom went to Peterhead (old family?), he built the new school 1850+/- in Aberdeenshire before leaving for San Fransisco, boat was "The city of Washington" which arrived from Liverpool 15 Jun 1870, at age 58 with wife Margaret(46) and children: Georginna, Andrew, Harriet,Ann, Jessie, Helen,john?(3) Margaret Center born abt 1823 to Alexander Center b.1786 m.1810 d. ?/ Mary Brodie b.1787 Alexander b 1786 born to William Center/Isobel Scott, married 1785, other vitals unknown. Story says Isobel Scott is sister/sister in law to Sir Walter Scott's father.
