Looking for Elizabeth LAMB
Our family Bible contains an entry for the death (but not the birth) of Elizabeth Lamb who 'died June 23rd 1885 aged 14 years and 9 months'. The odd thing is that our family name is Smith- and she is the only 'interloper', except for those who married in. The family were almost certainly living in Morpeth at the time, and there is evidence that Elizabeth lived with them, although there is no indication of her being servant or relation, and I don't think that the death of anyone loosely connected would have been recorded. I have found various possible birth records which could be hers, but no death record, even searching more widely than Northumberland. We have a family mystery and I wonder if Elizabeth could provide a key to it, so would like to find out more if anyone recognises the name. I think she was most likely born in Northumberland (Bellingham looks possible) but Durham could also be a possibility. A link with the Laws family could also be possible.

red mail Edmund Waldie
Does anyone know anything about the Waldie family from Morpeth? Edmund Waldie (1846-1905) was a master watchmaker. Did he have a shop, or do any of his watches still exist? His daughter, Margaret Josephine Chater Waldie was my Great Grandmother who died two years after the birth of my Grandfather. I would also like to know where Chater comes from, as Edmund's wife was Mary Ann Coultard (I think)
