red mail McKenzie/Walker. Foveran near Newburgh
John McKenzie married Jane Walker 1874. Later they moved from Foveran(near Newburgh)to Edinburgh. John's parents were Thomas McKenzie(quay labourer) and Isabella Brown. Jane Walker's parent were James Walker(shoemaker)and Mary Morrison. All born in Foveran. Who were their grandparents? John and Jane listed in 1901 census in Edinburgh along with their son James aged 21 and grandson William (known as Harry) aged 4, living in Great Junction Street, Leith. Where did they live prior to that? Harry was the son of their daughter Isabella. He was illegitimate, said to be the son of a gentleman farmer in Aberdeenshire, called Harry ? do not have last name, not on birth certificate. Any info appreciated.
red mail Smith & Davidson
Looking for any information on my GGG Grandfather Alexander Smith (shoemaker) who worked in Newburgh and died there in 1860 aged 77. Married May Davidson (from Foveran)(daughter of Robert Davidson & Susan Findlay) in 1828 and had two children - Ann Smith (b 1829 d 1874) and Helen Smith (b 1833 d 1925). Does anyone know where the Shoemaker operated from in the village?
