Help required to find information about my dad Thomas Edward Jones born 15/5/1910 in Birkenhead and married my mum Doris Jones in 1950 in St Johns Church Royton. Sadly mum passed away in 1952 and i believe dad may have stayed about the Oldham area
red mail Baxter and Bennett
Gladys Baxter (husbands grandmother) was born in 1904 in Oldham Union Workhouse. She was born to a single mum Elizabeth Baxter. She says she she is 33. (Workhouse records) So that would make her born in 1871. Despite extensive searching 1911 census I can't find a match. I have found Gladys on school records 1914 this indicates father or guardian is James and is living at 86 Franklin Street Oldham. Elizabeth left the workhouse with Gladys a month or so after her birth but the workhouse records state she was suffering from senility and destitute. Finding Elizabeth's family is the only way to continue the family tree so I am trying to locate her ancestors. My husband was told there was a Scottish connection and his entitlement to wear the Baxter tartan. On Glady's birth certificate Elizabeth is an unmarried mother who has been working as a domestic servant in Oldham both Gladys and Elizabeth having Baxter as their surname. Gladys remains a Baxter until marrying William H Bennett in Oldham. I do wonder if the James on the school record is her guardian and not her father and they (his family) brought her up in Oldham.

red mail Ada Winterbottom
Looking for the parents of Ada WINTERBOTTOM. Ada was born in Royton (near Oldham) about 1911 if my research is correct. I recall meeting Ada, her husband Billy McCORMICK, and her son Brian McCORMICK at their home near Birmingham in the 1960s thru early 1980s. Brian later lived in Solihull with his wife and two sons (Ian and James). I have found all the Winterbottoms - there were 8 born between 1856 and 1880, but don't know which of them is Ada's parent. I think it might be Herbert, Henry, or William. Thanks.

Looking for information regarding my maternal grandparents, Clara Corcoran and James Henry Wilson who resided at 29 Oldham Road, Oldham, Failsworth, some time around the 1915 to 1920's, (dates are approximate). My Grandfather James, was a tram conductor. My mother Edna, their daughter, has got a birth document dated with the year 1919 on it due to a 'Young person looking for work'. I've discovered since that grandmother Clara can't be found anywhere, (her story), unless I'm looking in the wrong places. Any info regarding Clara would be wonderful.
