Thorne, E
I'm researching the Thorne name (my family name) and 'E' was a printer based in Plymouth at the end of the 19th Century (address was Union Street), and he is linked to the Bible Christian Thorne family of Shebbear in North Devon. His Father was James Thorne, and my specific interest is in any potential link to the Thorne's of Bulford (either Somerset or Wiltshire). Any help gratefully accepted.

Possible he and his family emigrated to Canada as no trace of him or his family can be found in the 1911 census of England, although shown as living in Plymouth in the 1901 census. Father Gould mother Wakeham. There is a Nicholsons Fruit Store High Street Plymouth connection, reason unknown.

JOPE, Cecil, Sydney, George
Having been unable to find a birth or a death for this man makes it difficult to depict the precise time but we presume that his birth lies somewhere between 1915 and 1918+/-. His father was Sydney George Jope (b) 1892 and (d)1966, he was born in Stoke Demeral in Devon. He married a Rose Street in 1916 and they had at least one other child, *er* *ay Jope. Whether Rose Street was Cecil's mother is questionable. In 1939 Cecil married *d*t* *i*c* in Clacton, Essex. On the marriage certificate Cecil says he is 23 and in the "RAF - Soldier" and that his father is deceased (which he wasn't). In AMJ 1948 he marries his second wife *e*y* *i*g*l*n* in Plymouth. On the 17th March 1950 he married his third wife, **y *r*c* from Taunton, Somerset. At this point the law caught up with him and in June 1950 he appeared at Taunton court on a bigamy charge, was found guilty and sentenced to twelve months in prison. From the newspaper article we learn that he was 32 years old and a corporal in the RAF. In OND 1954 he marries his fourth wife, *n*i* *y*c* from Lambeth in London. There are a couple of possibilities of him being on the Electoral Roll in London during 1956 and 1964 but these have not been verified. We know he would have needed a birth certificate to get into the RAF and that he served at least eleven years. There may of course be other marriages that have yet to surface but any information anyone has or suggestions to help us solve this puzzle would be very welcome.
