red mail LANGHAM
I have WILLIAM LANGHAM born December 1827 at Romford. He was the son of Lewis Langham, a corn merchant, and I know pretty much everything about William until March 1871. Then he disappears. He and his wife, Annie Elizabeth, legally separated in 1871 due to hs drunken, abusive behaviour but, after that year, I cannot find him on any census. He was a carpenter for the Merchant Navy working out of the Royal Arsenal at Woolwich but I can find no discharge papers for him. A William Langham can be found at various workhouses but I cannot prove that it is our William. Any suggestions or help please?

red mail Childrens Home 1960
I am trying to find out more about in a Childrens Home in Romford Essex in the late 50's and early 60's. I was there with my sisters. I remember that a fly over with orange street lights was visible from the bedrooms - but not much else. I started school whilst there and walked each day and had to pass a police station with a free running german shepherd dog that always barked and frightened me. Does anyone know where this home or school were? I am trying to locate and possibly find old photographs. Thank you
