Rookley Rookley
My great-great grandfather, Henry Strickland, lived for a while in Rookley in the late 1870s. His address was Richmond Villa. I am planning a visit to the Isle of Wight and would like to know if the house is still there. Can anyone help?

Parish record look up please for the marriage of Frank Green and Mary Ann Hyde who married in Niton in 1895. Frank's father's name believed to be George. Am looking for info on a) what Frank's stated occupation was and b) confirmation that his father was George Green and what his occupation was. Frank died in 1899 aged 32 and is buried at Niton. Thanks to anyone who could let me have this info.

My relatives ran a bakery in Ventnor, gr.gr.gr. granfather Albert Gilbert was part of the business around 1850 before coming to Canada. His father was William and mother was Ann Leah Smith. William married twice more to Elizabeth March and then Elizabeth Dyer. Williams father was RIchard who married Ann Taylor. I am interested in finding out more information regarding this part of my family.

I am searching for connections to Jane Spanner Cavell, born c.1806 in Godshill and her husband, John Cavell, born c. 1811 in Arreton. In particular, I am searching for descendents of their children: George, born c.1834, Janet, born c. 1840, James, born c. 1841, and William born in 1849. Jane and John had two other children: Henry, born in 1836 and Isaac born in 1839. Both Henry and Isaac emigrated to Cleveland, Ohio, USA and spent the remainder of their lives there. Isaac married Sarah L. Lewis, born in 1842 of English descent.

Can anyone help me positively identify the Leah Sheath who married William Young in Godshill IoW on 9 Jan 1831? Many appear to believe she was the daughter of William & Elizabeth Sheath, bapt. 3 May 1807 in Newchurch, but William Young's wife Leah was about 5 years younger and appears to have been born in Arreton or Rookley, not Newchurch as all William and Elizabeth's children were. I suspect there were 2 Leah Sheaths, but cannot prove it.
