red mail Mary Robertson, born 1842, Turriff
I am trying to find some information about my ancestor, Mary ROBERTSON, who was born on 13 December 1842 in Turriff, Banffshire. In the early 1870s, she moved to Westmorland, England, where she lived until her death in 1931. But I can find no information about her early life.
red mail Coull/Barclay
We are trying to find the correct birth information for a James Barclay Coull born in Turriff around 1916. Perhaps 1919. His mother was Christina Pratt Coull, married to George Coull in Turriff. (perhaps 1917) Christina's parents were Elizabeth Barclay and John Barclay. Christina's birth date is not known but believed to have been around 1894. She was born in Turriff. It is believed that James Barclay was born before Christina's marriage to George Coull. We are not sure if Christina was previously married to James's father and was widowed in WW1. We believe that James Barclay was adopted by George Coull after his marriage to Christina. Does anyone have information about the Barclay family, specifically Christina? George and Christina migrated to New Zealand (Taranaki) and both are buried at Stratford cemetery.
red mail Fredrick Reid
I am looking for any information about my Fathers family. My Father being Fredrick Reid. My father was born in Turriff 30th August 1921 to Fredrick Reid and Marjory McPherson McRae. at 1 Maurice Lane. His father address was listed as Upper Woodtown Turriff. His mother died in 1923 so was brought up by his Grandmother Grannie Mc Rae.
According to a transcription of the 1851 Scotland Census : James Urquhart and his wife Margaret Urquhart nee Dey were living at Bridgend of Gask , Turriff, along with their offspring. James Urquhart was described as a farmer of 4 acres and a day labourer. I wonder if any reader has an interest in , or information on , this family ?

red mail Keith's of Turriff
I have a small group of Keith's in Turriff from Sylvester Keith who married widow Barbara Henderson in 1739 through their six children and some of their Grandchildren including Anna who married Alexander Morrison in 1776. Would love to find out more.
George Rannie married Jean Jamieson 1838. They had 2 sons John and George. Jean had been married toJohn Gammack1830 and had 2 children James and Helen. George and sons John and George (presumably Jean had died) emigrated to New Zealand 1858 to follow James Gammack who emigrated in 1850. In New Zealand RANNIE became RENNIE. Any info about these families in Turriff or Aberdeenshire before they came to NZ would be welcome.
