County Leitrim, Liatroim, (Province of Munster, Mumhain)
This page is for the entries of people who don't know the name of the village or town their family came from and only know it was in County Leitrim.

Leitrim is often written as Lathram on old documents. Apparently it was how it was pronounced at the time.

red mail Reilly/Riley, Michael & Mary Gallagher
Michael Riley (b. abt 1827, d.1889) left Ireland in 1855. Probably married his wife, Margaret Gallagher before sailing to America. Michael's parents were James Riley and Honora LNU. Descendents in America beleive Michael was born in Gortletteragh? We have no information on Margaret Gallagher. Would appreciate any birth, marriage or other information about this couple.
red mail McKernan/McKiernan/Kernan/Keirnan - Barney
Looking for proven descendants/family members/ancestral information for Barney (possibly Bernard or Barnaby) McKernan. Born "Lathram" (possibly phonetic for "Leitrim") c.1816, died Phoenixville PA 1897. This is the Barney McKernan who allegedly served in the Crimea.

Looking for John b, 1830, and Bridget McKernan (nee Wynn), parents of Bernard McKernan born ca 1851 in County Leitrim (I think) and moved to Scotland.

Thomas Hetherington from Kilarg married Margaret Trotter from Manorhamilton on 4th November 1835 at Cloonclare Church of Ireland. They emigrated to England and settled in Stalybridge, Cheshire. I would like to know if there are relatives still in County Leitrim
