red mail D-Day Leave cancelled
I am told that leave for all the forces in UK was cancelled for several months during the build-up to D-Day June 1944. I was in the Eastern Fleet at the time and was unaware of this. Can any subscriber tell me what period this leave cancellation covered? Thanks.

red mail John Kenny & Bridget Reynolds
Hi My g-g-grandfather James Kenny was born about 1820 and was a sapper and is in the 1841 census at the barracks at St Mary Northgate, Kent. He came to Australia in 1851 with his family and other sappers to help build in Perth and Fremantle. The records for all the sappers who came out on that voyage are nowhere to be found and both the UK and Australia say the other one has them. Can anyone help?

red mail Derek and Ian Brown, Son of Arthur
I am trying to find the families of my late step grandfather Arthur Brown who lived in Wellington, Telford, Shropshire in Haygate Road and Simons Close. He had sons, Derek and Ian and was married to my Gran, Helen who was formerly Alton. Arthur was a keen painter and I recall their bungalow having one of his pictures on the wall in the lounge. Please get in touch if you can help me trace Ian or Derek.
red mail Actor, peddler and traveller
Looking for information about the Attis / Hattis /Aittes (or any other ways of mis spelling it that you can think of) family. James was a bit of an actor and traveller going round performing plays in portable theatres mostly around Wales. His wife was Harriet Manley. They Married at st. Martins, Birmingham in 1834. A daughter, Esther was christened at Newhall in 1835 & daughter, Sarah , was born in 1839 but died aged 2 and was buried at St. Martins. Its possible that another child, James, who died in Bristol in 1841 aged 6 months was also one of their children. I can't find any death or marriage for Esther so she may also have died young. I can't find correct deaths for James or Harriett either nor are they an any census's that I can find. They moved about a bit so I assume that is why, unless they avoided it for their own reasons. The only information I have about them is christenings, marriage and an article which mentions him in the Monmouthshire Merlin newspaper in 1852. Any snippets of information would be appreciated. Thank You.

red mail Holcombe
My father was John Beverly Holcombe. He was an optician in Poole, Dorset. He was born in 1933 and had an elder sister, Valerie. She married Roy Clift. I know very little about my dad as his father died when he was 10. I know that he spent years in Bath and that his mother had a sweet shop in Streatham, London (possibly after she was widowed). Dad's birth was in the Midlands (another mystery). In the war he was evacuated to Market Drayton or Eastbourne (to an Auntie Anne, married name Sharpe). If anyone knows anything else about my dad's family I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.
