red mail Isaac Hall born about 1783
I cannot find Isaac and his family after the 1841 census when they lived at Higher Kingstone, Yeovil. I believe he is the father of my great great grandfather Henry (born about 1826)who was a yeoman in 1851 and father of Frances Hall Hardy born in 1851 and baptised in Yeovil on 31 July; Henry's name is not on Frances's birth certificate but he is named as her father in the baptisms register and just seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth along with other members of his family. Isaac's wife was Mary and their other known children were Charles c 1827, Jane c 1830, and Joseph c 1831. If anyone has come across this family I should be very pleased to hear from you.

red mail Henry Hall, Yeoman
I am trying to find out more about the father of my great grandmother, Frances Hall Hardy who was born in 1851. Her father was not named on her birth certificate, but at her baptism in Yeovil St John's her father's name was given as Henry Hall, yeoman - her mother was Sarah Summers Hardy.

red mail Oxley Family from Yeovil
I am researching the Oxley line of my family. I have traced it back to Robert Oxley born about 1784 in Wells, Somerset. Robert Oxley married Sarah Grimes at Yeovil in 1820 and the following children were born - Charles Grimes 1820, Robert 1822, John 1824, John 1826, George Grimes 1830, Sarah 1831 and John Grimes 1833. Is anyone researching this family as I would love to contact you. I have traced George Grimes Oxley to Australia and his sons to New Zealand where I live. My fingers are crossed, regards Lynette

red mail RUSSELL and BARTLETT
My grandfather, George RUSSELL,was born in April 1840 at Yeovil's Red House Inn on the Dorchester road, to John RUSSELL and Sarah BARTLETT. In the 1851 census George is shown as an inmate in the Yeovil workhouse and, in the 1861 census, as working in the Oxford & Cambridge club in London's West End. This ties in quite nicely with the family legend that George was taken by a blind preacher to London where he became this gentleman's servant. However, I have not been able to discover why George was in the workhouse in the first place. I know that his father died in 1846, but I cannot discover what became of his mother. I hope to visit the Somerset Heritage Centre soon as they hold the workhouse records but would be grateful for any information as to whether Sarah, who was born around 1815-17, died, (or re-married) before 1851.

red mail GEORGE PROCTOR UPTON OF YEOVIL
An updated plea, does anyone reading this, know anything of a family named UPTON in Yeovil. I am still looking for George Proctor Upton who died in 1837 he was a solicitor in the town and was buried there, he was twice Mayor of Lyme Regis. There is a memorial plaque in the parish church in Yeovil. I want to know more of his family. He married Eleanor Leach and I know there were three daughters of the marriage. Any help however small much appreciated
